Laura has 15 years’ experience of working in participation and engagement in the arts sector. She has worked with communities, young people and education partners as well as on large-scale festivals and outdoor events.
Her career began as Games Time Project Assistant at DEDA; a series of large-scale productions commemorating the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, each involving 200 community participants from across the East Midlands.
Other work with dance organisations includes Assistant Producer at Dance4, Project Manager at Spiltmilk Dance and Project Manager for the research phase of the British Council Re:Imagine India project Derby to Vadodara and Back.
She also spent 3 seasons working as Arts Industry Coordinator at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, managing a team helping to connect artists with producers and programmers throughout the festival.
Other work includes Education Assistant at Edinburgh Science Festival, Producing Support at Derby Feste and Site Manager at Sheffield Museums.
Laura was Freelance Engagement Officer at Gary Clarke Company for 6 years across the tours of COAL and WASTELAND before joining the core team in 2023 as Engagement Manager.
She leads on all aspects of Gary Clarke Company’s engagement programmes including development of education partnerships, recruitment of their community casts and project management of place-based projects such as Dancing Coalfields and Pride in Motion.
