The COVID Years

In May 2020, as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and a major national lockdown, Gary Clarke Company proudly launched GCC DIGITAL: a new on-line platform and programme for delivering Gary Clarke Company content. With support from HdK, Arts Council England and Surf The Wave Response Pot, Gary Clarke Company presented #WastelandHome and #GCCDigital across 6 months from May to December 2020 as well as special curated programme in March 2021.

Overall the company presented 10 weeks of live activity with 60 live sessions over Instagram, Facebook and ZOOM including professional classes, workouts, repertoire sessions, bite size events, community warm ups and interviews, gaining over 16,500 views and employing 30 independent artists including a number of guest teachers including Dr Rachel Krische, Stuart Waters and Beno Novak.

We held 10 ‘In Conversation’ events with a wide range of established artists such as Luca Silvestrini, Robbie Graham, Rhiannon Faith, Thick & Tight, Vidya Patel, Stephanie Sirr / Nottingham Playhouse, Hetain Patel, New Art Club and Test Department. Plus we hosted three live prize Bingo sessions hosted by Alistair Goldsmith including a live DJ set from Vision UK! Content for GCC DIGITAL used the repertoire from Gary Clarke Company including Wasteland, Horsemeat, Cameo Cookie, Bagofti, 2 Men & a Michael and the award-winning production COAL as well as a specially curated ‘Wednesday Workout’ programme with invited special guests.
